Most-reported side effects

  • Injection-site reaction is most common
  • Possible transient nausea

Don't use if…

  • Pregnancy

What it is

An aromatic-cationic tetrapeptide that selectively concentrates in the inner mitochondrial membrane and binds cardiolipin—stabilizing electron transport and reducing reactive oxygen species.

Mechanism of action

Binds cardiolipin, restores supercomplex assembly in the ETC, reduces mitochondrial ROS, and improves ATP output without uncoupling.

Reported benefits

  • Improvement in mitochondrial-driven diseases (Barth syndrome, primary mitochondrial myopathy)
  • Investigated in heart failure, ischemia-reperfusion, age-related mitochondrial decline
  • Anecdotal energy and recovery benefits in biohacker dosing

Evidence notes

Stealth Biopharma sponsor of multiple Phase II/III trials—mixed primary endpoint outcomes but strong mechanistic data.
